My heart is filled with thankfulness
To Him who bore my pain;
Who plumbed the depths of my disgrace
And gave me life again;
Who crushed my curse of sinfulness
And clothed me in His light
And wrote His law of righteousness
With pow’r upon my heart
Today’s ‘Sunday Song’ starts with thankfulness… and not just a little bit – a heart-full. In a world of sadness, despair, conflict and grief that encourages criticism, gossip, blame and dissatisfaction I’m full of thanks.
My gratitude comes because my God took all of my old pain, disgrace and mess and replaced them with His new life, light and power.
I’m thank-full.
My heart is filled with thankfulness
To Him who walks beside;
Who floods my weaknesses with strength
And causes fears to fly;
Whose ev’ry promise is enough
For ev’ry step I take,
Sustaining me with arms of love
And crowning me with grace.
This God who took my pain takes today’s problems and walks with me so that his wisdom, strength and love can be my daily experience. It’s more than I deserve, more than I could hope for, think of or imagine…
This morning I read… God speaking: ‘I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself.’ (Jeremiah 31:3)
I’m thank-full.
My heart is filled with thankfulness
To Him who reigns above,
Whose wisdom is my perfect peace,
Whose ev’ry thought is love.
For ev’ry day I have on earth
Is given by the King;
So I will give my life, my all,
To love and follow him.
These Stuart Townend words are probably the best summary of my faith that I know… My God, the big God who’s in control, comes to me with his reassurance, confidence and peace. In His wisdom and love He gives me each day, today in particular, as a special gift; I choose to love and follow him in it.
And I’m thank-full
I love the Celtic influence in this song – thanks for sharing. 😊

Thanks Lynn – me too. I like it that it is neither ‘old church’ or ‘new church’… just an expression of faith.

Thanks Leslie. I love this song. Firstly it is so positive. Secondly it is God-centred . It’s not about what I do to achieve – It’s about how God in his grace comes alongside me…
