My cereal box this morning… Shreddies are:
- On your side!
- Never Soggy – 4 crunchy layers of wheat to fight off milk
- Not Flakey – tough squares of fibre, iron and B vitamins
- Substance over style – the strength of a diamond in a square
In a school assembly I might have said… Be like Shreddies… strong to stand against what is wrong – the class bully or gossip; the personal laziness, grudges or selfishness…
…strong to stand up for what is right, befriending the lonely, helping the needy, speaking the truth, supporting the weak….
With Christian friends I might recall Joshua…’Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’
Be strong preparing to cross your River Jordon. Be courageous entering your Promised Land. Don’t be soggy or flakey facing new and scary situations. Remember your Divine help, guide, strength…
Sunday’s Brie… the label said: ‘Never content with the ordinary we’ve explored with passion for over a century, blending skill and imagination to creatively craft our range of great tasting cheeses.’
‘Each one has a unique taste sensation to discover. Indulgent little moments to make the everyday extraordinary.’
A beginning of term assembly?… Be like Brie… Don’t be content with the ordinary… look for passion and excitement… bring your skill, abilities, creativity, imagination…
Each term, each day is unique with discoveries to be made and moments to enjoy… It’s up to you to make the most of it.
Musing on Jeremiah 31… God’s new relationship with his people: ‘I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God and they will be my people.’
…A transformation of minds and hearts, moving from the ordinary to the extraordinary, from previous drudgery and failures to new creativity and enjoyment…
…Musing that today I need the Shreddies’ strength together with the Brie’s creative experience…
