If you’ve been walking the same old road
For miles and miles
If you’ve been hearing the same old voice
Tell the same old lies
If you’re trying to fill the same old holes inside
There’s a better life…
Zach Williams was brought up in a Christian home but rebelled against his parents’ faith. He made bad decisions… there was drugs and alcohol… he got married… he was a touring musician with a rock-star lifestyle. He went through some very dark times. In 2012, when he felt that his world was falling apart, he says he met with his God and his life changed.
We’ve all searched for the light of day
In the dead of night
We’ve all found ourselves worn out
From the same old fight
We’ve all run to things we know just ain’t right
When there’s a better life…
In an interview with CBN Zach said: ‘I tried to write songs that are just as raw and honest as I am. I just want to be on a real level with people, where everybody knows that I’m not a perfect person. I struggle just like the next person and it’s only through God that I am where I’m at today.’
If you believe it, if you receive it
If you can feel it, somebody testify
I like and identify with Zach Williams’ honesty. He’s a flawed individual who’s been through dark and difficult times. Through it all he’s found faith that he ‘believes, receives, feels’.
Zach’s gospel is of a Jesus who’s there for the failures, messed-up, ruffians and ragamuffins, a Jesus meets them where they are. He can meet all their needs – real problems and difficulties in a real world.
Musing… Jesus the ‘pain taker, way maker, prison-shaking Saviour, chain breaker’.
If you’ve got pain, He’s a pain taker
If you feel lost, He’s a way maker
If you need freedom or saving
He’s a prison-shaking Saviour
If you got chains
He’s a chain breaker
