With All I Am

Into Your hands, I commit again
With all I am, for You, Lord
You hold my world in the palm of Your hand
And I am Yours forever

We shall sing these words at church this morning. I’m reminded that my faith isn’t just about believing some nice ideas, but it’s a commitment to a way of life. Some friends talk about the day or time they committed their lives to the ‘Jesus Way’.

But it’s not just about personal beliefs and lifestyle. It’s about a super-natural all-powerful Father-God who holds the world – who holds my world.

Jesus, I believe in You
Jesus, I belong to You
You’re the reason that I live
The reason that I sing
With all I am.

This morning I return – as I do regularly – to say that I believe. I re-commit myself again to the Jesus who lived and died, who continues to motivate, inspire and guide me. It’s a deliberate, intentional, personal act that I choose today.

I’ll walk with You wherever You go
Through tears and joy, I’ll trust in You
And I will live in all of Your ways
Your promises forever

Today’s a good day for me. Commitment is easy. The future…? I don’t know what will happen next week, next year…

I think of friends who today are living with recent bereavement, those who are coming to terms with a diagnosis of physical or mental illness from which there is no return. Today they will have more tears than joy.

For some, despite adversity, they choose to believe, and their sense of belonging to a loving God and a family of faith sustains them. Their faith is deepened through personal tragedy; that encourages me.

I will worship, I will worship You
I will worship, I will worship You

At church this morning we shall worship a God who we don’t fully understand, but we trust with our unpredictable lives.

Jesus, I believe in You
Jesus, I belong to You…
