Into perspective…

No photo description available.

I got up this morning creaking. It took a while to get my bits going…

Musing on the friend whose brother recently had a heart attack; earlier this week her husband had a stroke… Several friends reflecting on the effects of long term Covid on those close to them… Several recent conversations with friends about their mortality, wills, palliative care…

…puts my health concerns into perspective…

I’m worried about one or two matters. I woke in the night having had a dream about a friend, (who died a year ago!) who had been advising me about one of my concerns….

Musing on friends who are on anti-depressants, friends who are in or have come through addictions, stories told by friends – counsellors, therapists, social workers, teachers…

…puts my mental health into perspective…

Yesterday was our wedding anniversary. Tim and Jill, good friends who attended our wedding, spent it with us…

Musing on 22 years before marriage, 3 children, 3 grandchildren, 5 houses, 6 jobs, 49 years later….

…conversations this week… Mike’s problems in his first marriage that ended in divorce; his second wife sadly died; now he’s happily married… Pete’s first marriage ended in divorce; after several rocky relationships he now loves a woman who suffers badly with depression following significant personal traumas….

…puts my marriage into perspective.

Yesterday’s news included a new study about the ‘Cosmic Dawn’. Dr Nicolas Laporte says:

‘… the universe was a dark place for the first few hundred million years, before the first stars and galaxies formed… cosmic dawn occurred between 250 and 350 million years after the beginning of the universe…’

Musing on King David’s ancient song: ‘O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth…When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him…’

…puts my life into perspective.
