Always on my Mind

Maybe I didn’t love you quite as often as I could have,
And maybe I didn’t treat you quite as good as I should have.
If I made you feel second best, I’m sorry I was blind.

You were always on my mind; you were always on my mind.

An Elvis song as my ‘Sunday Hymn’? Sometimes ordinary songs speak in a deeper way than any ‘church song’…

We miss opportunities to show love, especially to those that we love the most. Caught up with life’s busyness and distractions, those on our minds and in our hearts are treated as second best.

Love is the huge act of sacrifice; it is the little act of generosity; it tells others that they are needed, appreciated and valued.

And maybe I didn’t hold you all those lonely, lonely times.
And I guess I never told you I’m so happy that you’re mine.
Little things I should have said and done, I just never took the time.

But you were always on my mind; you were always on my mind.

Honest: Love is sincere; it sees the best and worst in people; it acknowledges mistakes; its truth-telling is tough and transparent but breaks down barriers.

Humble: Love accepts that I have not loved as I should; it gives without conditions, encourages second chances, makes me vulnerable and requires apologies.

Holistic: Love includes words and actions, thoughts and emotions, ‘heart, soul, mind and strength’.

…and those with faith apply this to God’s love for us and our love for him…

Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn’t died.
And give me, give me one more chance
To keep you satisfied, I’ll keep you satisfied.
Little things I should have said and done, I just never took the time

But you were always on my mind; you were always on my mind.
