…Reflecting on ‘Buffalo Bill Comes to Lowestoft’:
Local musician John Ward’s research on Buffalo Bill’s huge, spectacular Wild West Show coming to Lowestoft in 1903 included several quotes from Buffalo Bill Cody. In particular: ‘In nine out of ten cases where there is trouble with white men and Indians, it will be found that the white man is responsible. Indians expect a man to keep his word. They can’t understand how a man will lie.’
…Being introduced to Duncan Beedie’s children’s book ‘Heavy Metal Badger’:
Badger has music inside him that’s ready to burst out. He just needs to find a band, others he can share his music with. He tries the recorder class. That’s not right. Neither’s the choir. Nor the marching band! Badger causes chaos wherever he goes because he’s different.
Eventually Badger joins a rock band. It’s a book about being true to yourself, understanding your identity, finding where you fit in…
…Hearing the old Eric Morecambe joke:

This morning I’ve been reading Habakkuk:

On my watchtower this morning… with Bill Cody I see those who lack moral integrity… with Duncan Beedie I see folks struggling to find their identity and where they fit in… with Eric Morecambe I see individuals blissfully unaware of, or unwilling to see, the trouble they’re causing.
Habakkuk goes on to say, ‘But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.’ I shall be watching out for good examples of that too.
