The Safe Place

Yesterday’s Lowestoft Journal…

…Former evacuees to meet again at station they left from in 1940: ‘…more than 3,000 schoolchildren and teachers left Lowestoft on five trains on their way to Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire for the duration of the war.’

The safe place – away from the bombs falling on Lowestoft.

…Blue Flags fly along Suffolk coast as beaches celebrate being rated among the UK’s best: ‘Blue flags are international awards that celebrate well-managed beaches with excellent water quality… ‘Felixstowe… Southwold… Lowestoft… and Kessingland have received Seaside Awards.’

The safe place – clean beaches and sea.

…‘Happy and Calm’ primary school praised by Ofsted: ‘Pakefield Primary School in Lowestoft… has been praised for its work supporting families who have children struggling to come to school and for its high levels of pupil attendance’

The safe place – a happy, calm school.

Three incredibly rare bat-eared fox kits born at Africa Alive: ‘The kits have begun venturing out, though keepers say they remain cautious and often retreat quickly to the safety of the den. Both parents have been actively involved in raising the young.’

The safe place – in their den, close to their parents

…Stranded yacht sparks emergency response: ‘The 10-metre yacht, with two people on board… had to be helped by a nearby wind farm crew transfer vessel before a lifeboat crew was able to take over the tow and bring them to safety.’

The safe place – Lowestoft harbour – the rescuing lifeboat

Safe places… war evacuation… clean beaches… good schools… caring parents…  lifeboats, harbours…

Me, yesterday…

Walking, early morning on the beach… my weekly prayer walk… safe place for mind and spirit.

Singing at ‘Singing for Wellbeing’…the person, the love, creating a safe place:

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy when skies are grey
You’ll never know, dear, how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away.

Remembering David’s words …the God of safe places: ‘I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, Lord, make we dwell in safety.’
