An estimated three hundred people took part on the Lowestoft Christmas day swim. Swimmers in fancy dress took a freezing plunge in the North Sea raising raised money for local charities – Lowestoft Lions, Lowestoft Lifeguard Volunteer Corp, St John Ambulance…
Anyone can raise money, be a good guy.
We watched the Christmas edition of ‘Call the Midwife’. It’s full of good guys. Nuns and nurses left the East End of London to help pregnant women, mothers and babies in Hong Kong where they encountered a violent local Triad gang…
Even with the best good guys there can be bad guys.

Yesterday down by the sea I heard a loud squawk of seagulls. Many accumulated around a man with a bag of bread. Perhaps a couple of hundred were fed. Some folks like seagulls; some think they’re a nuisance.
Opinion’s divided: is he a good guy or a bad guy?
Yesterday were messaged by our French relations. ‘Auntie Rachel’s cookies are on the tea room’s menu today’. Rachel’s ‘Anzac cookies’ are appreciated in Lowestoft. She’d given the recipe to niece-in-law Julie. They’re now sold in Julie’s ‘Salon de Thé’ in suburban Paris.
A good guy’s influence can be unexpectedly far-reaching.

This morning…
…Reading Revelation in my Bible …The battle of God against Satan, good guys against bad guys… chapter 13 verse 11… a creature that looks like a lamb but sounds like a dragon.
Bad guys can be disguised as good guys.
…Lectio 365 informed me: today’s the feast day of Emma Cotton who died on this day in 1952. Born to a Creole family in Louisiana in 1877… prominent during the Azusa Street Revival of 1906… led to the world-wide Pentecostal and charismatic movements.
A black woman in 1906: a most unlikely good guy.
…I’m praying that …I’ll have the wisdom to distinguish the good guys from the bad guys …I’ll encourage those seeking to be good guys – without writing anyone off …I’ll have the humility and grace to be an exemplary good guy.
