Just Say Thank You

On Saturday we watched ‘Annie’. The many expressions of praise and appreciation on social media include:

‘Fantastic nights at The Seagull Annie Jr… So much hard work gone in by all, loved it and very grateful for (daughter) to be given the opportunity to be part of this production.’

‘Brilliant show. You could tell how much the whole cast was enjoying themselves, you all did amazing. Thank you to everyone who made it happen. One very proud Dad and Step-Mum.’

We came home and watched the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ final. It was the final show for Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman who’ve hosted the show since 2014.

Craig read them a letter from Queen Camilla: ‘… I just wanted to say thank you on behalf of the millions who watch you each week…’ Apparently Queen Camilla and King Charles watch Strictly every week. ‘…The warmth, compassion and sheer happiness you have radiated with and from each other has been at the heart of the show’s success…’

Niece-in-law-Julie has recently opened ‘Cup & Cakes Salon De Thé’ in Pontault-Combault, just outside Paris. She’s hoping that an English-style tearoom in France will be successful. Her publicity speaks of  ‘Salon de thé aux influences britanniques.’

On Saturday niece-Sara visited and posted (computer translations always amuse us) ‘Yesterday we played testers for Julie. Before brunch reservations opened, we had a chance to get a taste… And the verdict: approved.’ Praise indeed!

Yesterday at church in our ‘All Age Nativity Service’ children and adults dressed as wise men, angels and shepherds… all who took part were thanked for a good afternoon of story-telling, readings and carols.

Our readings included the shepherds seeing ‘great company of the heavenly host’  who are ‘praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favour rests.”’

Musing… Saying ‘Thank You’… The grand public declaration… The quiet, face-to-face heartfelt expression… Writing, speaking, showing gratitude… and somewhere, somehow, saying, showing, ‘Thank You’ to my God…
