Yesterday I watched ‘Santa and the Christmas Wish’, the Seagull Theatre’s early years Christmas show.
Two weeks ago there was a script, and empty stage and five professional entertainers. The stage was transformed with a wonderful set. There were days of rehearsal. Music and sound effects were added, lighting was planned. Last week performances started. Classes of young school children were entertained…
Yesterday I watched Buddy the Elf, Santa Claus, and Rudolf the Reindeer at the North Pole entertain me with festive songs, pantomime silliness and some storyline about Santa and Christmas wishes.
The show started with a plan, moves through change and improvement, to a successful outcome.

On Saturday my friend Wayne moved out of his Lowestoft home to make a fresh start with his family Keighly in Yorkshire. It’s closer to his partner’s family. He’s been planning the move for some time.
It’s a big change. He hopes that it will lead to improvement in his family circumstances and be successful. We hope and pray so too.
Last night’s local news reported on our local River Thet. In October it was polluted. A foam-like substance covered the river’s surface. There were dead fish…
They formed a plan. The water quality was monitored closely by experts. There was change, improvement. Yesterday we saw fish released into the river. They say there were three thousand, with six thousand more planned to be released next year.
Change has been managed and monitored. There’s certainly been improvement. We shall have to wait to see if it is successful.

Our Christmas plans are taking shape – family activities, celebrations, special events. Some of our neuro-divergent friends will find the changes particularly difficult… Advent themes of hope, peace, joy and love point to change for the better, of life improving. We shall soon be in 2026 and thinking of New Year’s Resolutions…
This morning I’m musing on Santa’s Christmas Wish… my plans, on changes planned and unplanned, on change for the better… and how I measure success.

and how you measure success – a key factor. Thanks, Malcolm!

Make plans but hold on loosely because God may have other ideas.

It seems to me, Barb, that both over-planning and under-planning can create problems on both a human and spiritual level. We pray for wisdom, humility and care.
