My yesterday seemed to be about focus, purpose and dreams…
…Presenter Sara Cox… starting her BBC Children in Need ‘Great Northern Marathon Challenge’… running, jogging, and walking 135 miles in five days – the equivalent of five marathons. Beginning yesterday in Kielder Forest on the Scottish border, she’ll continue through Northumberland, Durham, and Yorkshire, finishing in Pudsey, Leeds, the home of the charity’s mascot, Pudsey Bear.
Folks are encouraged to support Sara’s challenge by donating online, and creating their own fundraising activities for Children in Need – that supports children and young people struggling with challenges caused by mental health, poverty, social inequality…

…Frankie the flamingo… a wonderful story about a flamingo who escaped from a wildlife sanctuary in Cornwall over a week ago. Yesterday there were photographs of a young flamingo, believed to be Frankie, on a beach in northern France.
Perhaps Frankie had dreams of freedom – or a holiday in France… Nick Reynolds, on behalf of the Frankie’s previous home, hoped that Frankie would find and join a colony of flamingos in southern France.

…A statue of Benjamin Britten… unveiled at a special ceremony on the Lowestoft seafront. The statue of musician and composer Britten, as a boy, looks out over the sea that inspired his music…
A team of passionate locals focused on raising the £120,000 for the 12ft bronze statue… Britten focused on his music and achieved international success… future generations of Lowestoft children can also be inspired to follow their dreams.

…The forthcoming production of Annie… On the Seagull Theatre’s Facebook page: ‘Meet our incredible cast… Not long now till opening night! Very limited availability left!… Introducing Flo as Annie.’ The directors say that rehearsals are going really well. There were pictures of the children in the show… focus, purpose, dreams are all there!
Musing… My focus, purpose, dreams? Inspired by… Sara’s effort, determination and concern for those struggling… Frankie’s escape from captivity and discovering freedom… Lowestoft’s Benjamin with his international greatness… Lowestoft’s ordinary, but extraordinary Flo…
