Yesterday the BBC told me…
…about Tysie Gallagher. Last January her mother-in-law, the grandmother of Tysie’s seven-year-old daughter, was murdered. Tysie said: ‘This whole year has been dark for my family…’
Tysie’s a boxer – a British, Commonwealth and WBO international super-bantamweight champion. Saturday will be her first fight in 12 months.
Tysie said: ‘I’ve got to go and do it for my mother-in-law, that’s just in the back of my head constantly, every day, every training session, every run, every hardship, I’m doing it for her because I know how proud she’d be.’
Tysie’s dreams of victory, achieved through her determination and physically commitment, can transform her family’s dark year.

This morning, Dan Snow told me…
… about a 26-year-old who’d failed to find a teaching job, and been passed over for promotion at work. His ‘discovery’, that changed the world, didn’t come from Cambridge or Harvard but from Bern, Switzerland.
In 1905 Albert Einstein published four articles that transformed the human understanding of science and the universe. On this day 120 years ago – 26th September – Einstein published the third of these four papers. Entitled, ‘On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies’, it overturned Isaac Newton’s ideas that had been accepted for centuries.
Einstein’s intellectual dreams and his academic dedication transformed scientific understanding of space, energy, mass, time, atoms, nuclear reactions…
Yesterday Elvis reminded me…
…well actually Lifein3D presented an excellent cover of ‘If I can dream’… that Elvis sung two months after Martin Luther King’s assassination. It points to MLK’s dream of peace, understanding and hope that seems as important and relevant now as it did then. The song concludes:
Deep in my heart there’s a trembling question
Still I am sure that the answer gonna come somehow
Out there in the dark, there’s a beckoning candle
And while I can think, while I can talk
While I can stand, while I can walk
While I can dream, please let my dream
Come true, right now.
This dream leads to a spiritual dedication and potential life-changing – world-changing – transformation.
