Yesterday…
…I attended our church home group. We reflected on Psalm 139… Verses about being ‘knit together in my mother’s womb…’ ‘fearfully and wonderfully made…’ ‘seen and known before I was born.’
Someone called it ‘the midwives psalm’. Ann directed the discussion towards the current proposed legislation on abortion.
Ann’s enthusiasm and passion for vulnerable, unborn children has led to emotional, eloquent, heartfelt, principled opinions.

… I watched the local BBC news. Lowestoft boy Luca Sinclair loves football. He started refereeing children’s football when he was 14…
Now 18, he described how felt ‘forced’ to quit. He described the horrendous abuse he received from young players’ parents. He finally decided to stop refereeing last year when a player’s mother invaded the pitch during a match and called him names.
Luca’s enthusiasm and passion for football led to volunteering, training, helping… criticism, accusations, threats.

…I chatted with Mark. Mark is a skilled actor and director who runs his own theatre company. He leads a training programme for young people considering a career in the performing arts – acting, directing, producing or in one of the many roles behind the scenes. He enables aspiring filmmakers to work alongside professional film producers…
Mark’s enthusiasm and passion for theatre and film leads him sharing his experience and skills as he identifies and develops the skills of young people.

…I received a message from Ruth. Ruth’s husband died recently. Yesterday would have been their wedding anniversary. She wandered to and sat on a favourite bench of theirs that overlooks local marshes. Inscribed on the bench is ‘rest and let nature come to you.’ She did.
Ruth’s enthusiasm and passion for her husband and their marriage led her take time out, remember and appreciate.
Musing… Enthusiasm and passion leading to… Ann’s heartfelt defence of the vulnerable… Luca’s commendable action but undeserved abuse… Mark’s training, teaching and sharing with young adults… Ruth’s pausing to pause, rest and reflect.
