Yesterday morning the fixture list for the coming Championship football season was published. Norwich City fans learnt that their season kicks off on August 9th playing Millwall at home… the key games against arch-rivals Ipswich are in October and April… our season ends on May 2nd away at Hull.
There’s continuing speculation over whether the new manager and the re-fashioned team is good enough – yesterday’s news was that we’ve signed a Bosnian goalkeeper from Sporting Lisbon.
Whatever happens we shall support our team.

Yesterday afternoon I attended our music-making group. About fifty of us were jammed into a room that was scarcely big enough for the wheel-chairs, and all who’d all come together to be musical and drink tea.
Many had sung onstage in the First Light Festival on Lowestoft beach last weekend. There was grateful reflection on the team who’d made it possible – those who’d taken part, those who’d arranged it, those involved with transport, particularly helping those with mobility problems…
There was team awareness and gratitude.

Yesterday evening we were at church. Over this weekend about 80 of us are doing a ‘Walk Through the Bible’ course.
Tom, who’s leading us, read from Romans 15: ‘We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord…May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other,…’
It’s about being part of a team, being supportive, encouraging each other, getting on with each other, living in harmony – fitting our differences together.

Early yesterday morning I walked on the beach. Dog-walkers and swimmers were around, but I was alone. I reflected on the beauty of the morning; I prayed for friends and family; I reaffirmed my individual faith to and with my Father-God.
This morning I’m thinking of myself as a team player – supporting the teams I’m part of… aware of and grateful for the roles that others play… seeking to discern and fulfil the team-roles that I play in encouragement, support and action.

Good morning Malcolm
many thanks for the Teams blog.
we had the Foundations day on Saturday all went very well working as a team.
Times are changing I have to learn that sometimes it’s time to pass the batten on and be a different team member and take a back seat and be more of a person of encouragement then being upfront and leading stuff.
God bless
Mark

Good to hear from you, Mark. I’ve discovered, like you, that my role in the team has changed over the years. It isn’t always easy to appreciate what that role is – and how to step down from, or hand over the old role. It’s vital that we do do that baton passing, though.
