Yesterday at Music for Wellbeing we were still in a VE Day mood, singing a songs from the 1940s… White Cliffs of Dover, We’ll Meet Again… many old favourites… songs of hope, that took us on a journey from the troubled days of war to a better tomorrow.
We sung ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’… Life wasn’t good for Dorothy in Kansas… she had a dream. She could travel from her troubles, over the rainbow, to a better place. It would be her Rainbow Journey.
Then we sung ‘Moon River’. It uses the picture of a flowing river, a ‘heart breaker’, that carries the traveller in its current to an uncertain and unpredictable destination.

This ‘dream maker’ will take you to a better place… on a Rainbow Journey.

Earlier this week I heard about two Italians Enzo and Ferruccio. Enzo made high performance racing cars. Ferruccio made tractors. Both were skilful, successful manufacturers.
Ferrucio bought one of Enzo’s cars. He thought that the clutch broke too easily, so he advised Enzo how his car could be improved. Enzo couldn’t accept Ferrucio’s constructive criticism and said, ‘Let me make cars. You stick to making tractors.’
It was 1963. The two men were Enzo Ferrari and Ferruccio Lamborghini. From that conversation Lamborghini decided that he would make racing cars as well as tractors. Perhaps that incident was part of his Rainbow Journey – moving him on to a better place.

Coming home from Music for Wellbeing I read in this week’s Lowestoft Journal about a remarkable local charity, ‘Angels and Rainbows’:
‘The community-led support group, founded by bereaved parents, assists those who have experienced miscarriage, still birth or neo-natal death.’
Our Lowestoft MP Jess Asato said, ‘Speaking with the Angels and Rainbows team was deeply moving. They’re doing remarkable work supporting parents at one of the most devastating moments of their lives…’
…Helping them travel on their Rainbow Journey from devastation to a better place.
Love all these rainbow moments Malcolm. The story of Enzo and Ferruccio is so interesting. I learned something new. Thank you.

Thanks, Alegria. It seems to me that we all have opportunities for rainbow moments to lead us into our rainbow journey. We need the wisdom and insight to spot them.
