It’s Neurodiversity Celebration Week. The website says:
Neurodiversity Celebration Week is a worldwide initiative that challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences. It aims to transform how neurodivergent individuals are perceived and supported…
Musing… Neurodiverse-City… a city where folks with Dyslexia, Autism and ADHD, are recognised, appreciated and celebrated. There’s increasing awareness and understanding, those with difficulties are included; differences are seen as unique strengths, skills and talents to be encouraged.
Further musing… Other ‘cities’? Perhaps Immense-City is very big; Universe-City is even bigger – and everyone there has an excellent education.
…Close to Neurodiverse-City is Diverse-City where differences in race, religion, sexuality, political views and physical capabilities are welcomed, included and integrated.
…In Simpli-City everyone’s uncomplicated and easy to understand …In Intense-City everyone has very strong feelings …In Dupli-City everyone’s deceitful …In Scarce-City there’s a short supply of resources …Perhaps gymnasts and contortionists live in Elasti-City.

Three cities where I’d love to live…
Generous-City… where everyone holds money and possessions very lightly. Those in need are supported, there’s no poverty because everyone’s looking out for everyone else. People are generous with their time, effort, appreciation… Nothing’s too much. From costly sacrificial giving, to thoughtful small acts of kindness, generosity is a way of life.
Authentic-City… where everyone is trustworthy, reliable, consistent. Mistakes are admitted to and learnt from. Emotions are expressed freely and clearly. There’s an integrity in beliefs, conversations and actions. All live with sincerity and transparency. There’s authenticity in work, family-life, throughout the community.
Electric-City… where everyone is empowered. It’s the Wizard of Oz principle: the ‘cowardly’ lion becomes courageous; the ‘brainless’ scarecrow thinks clearly; the ‘heartless’ tinman displays powerful emotions. They’re empowered to change.
The song ‘Electricity’ from the stage musical ‘Billy Elliot’:
And then I feel a change, like a fire deep inside
Something bursting me wide open, impossible to hide
And suddenly I’m flying, flying like a bird
Like Electricity, electricity
Sparks inside of me, and I’m free.
Billy Elliott feels the transformative power from living in Electric-City
Thanks for this post Malcolm. Sign me up for residence in Authentic-City Malcolm where I believe all other city diversities will find their harmony.

Here’s a city I’d like to visit .
Rastrophiliopustrocity – It means ‘a spontaneous combustion of creative spark that is followed by action in order to manifest and bring into existence.
I imagine there’ll be creative neurodiverse people there.

The thing with cities, Karla, is that we don’t live in cities alone. We share them with others who w discover live in the same city as us…
