I continue to enjoy reading the Bible: a couple of chapters each day; the complete Bible each year. Old stories read in a fresh light, new insights not noticed before. The depth of mystery that’s beyond my intellect, the spiritual truth that’s beyond my experience, yet the simplicity that a child can appreciate and understand.
This morning I’ve been musing on:
‘May the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way.’
It’s a prayer, a desire, a longing, a hope, as relevant today as it was when Paul wrote it.
Noticing that the reference is a ‘3:16’, I remember that there are a number of other ‘3:16’s… I move on.

Watching last night’s news: David Cameron visiting Ukraine, continuing hostilities in Gaza, pro-Palestinian demonstrations, anti-Semitic hatred, stubborn politicians, no end in sight, traumatised families, images of the hopeless and helpless.
…Peace at all times and in every way.

Seeing ‘DIY SOS’ for BBC’s Children in Need: building a new children’s wing at the Treetops Hospice in Risley, Derbyshire, providing support for bereaved children.
Children, who had struggled after the death of a loved one, told their stories: appreciating emotional sensitivity, personal care… benefiting from counselling, therapy… understanding themselves better… helping others in similar circumstances… becoming stronger.
…Peace at all times and in every way.

Reflecting on yesterday’s conversations: the friend awaiting urgent hospital referral following recent test results… the mother with a terminally ill daughter… the girl who says she hates school and has no friends… the woman who worries about spiralling debts…
…Peace at all times and in every way.

Musing on personal worries and uncertainties: remembering the old hymn ‘Just as I am, though tossed about with many a conflict, many a doubt; fightings and fears within without…
…Peace at all times and in every way.
Remembering the source of peace and the giver of peace: May the Lord of peace himself give you… Peace at all times and in every way.

Beautiful. Thank you. Peace to you too, Brother. Peace of Christ to you. https://youtu.be/BkjKOgTvFx0?si=ryiJI4NF14ltrD9-

Great song, Majik. I’d not met it before. Thank you. And peace to you and those you love.

I love the British expression that you just used, Malcolm, about a song that you’d “never heard before,” as we Yanks would say it. “I’d not met it before,” you said, like the song was a person and not a thing. I think that you, Cousin, are likely closer to the truth! By the way, Mullins’ song and your post today just inspired a post on my blog this morning. There are some other Rich Mullins songs there that you may not have “met” yet too. Enjoy! https://themjkxn.substack.com/p/peace

Thanks, Majik. I would use either phrase… or ‘I haven’t encountered Rich Mullins…’ I’ve often looked at your substack blog – I certainly enjoyed this morning’s. Sadly, I’ve found that it’s not very user friendly – and impossible to respond to – sorry!
