Noah built the most enormous boat
That kept the birds and animals afloat
The Lord was good the Lord was strong
And Noah lived his life for Him
Moses led his people through the sea
Taking them away from slavery
The Lord was good the Lord was strong
And Moses lived his life for Him
Some would call this a ‘children’s song’; it speaks to me as much as any ‘adult’ song… The Old Testament narratives have so much to teach us… It’s the same God… Without them the life of Jesus has no context…
David fought Goliath and he won
A humble shepherd boy became a king
The Lord was good the Lord was strong
And David lived his life for Him
Daniel was inside a lion’s den
But God brought him to safety once again
The Lord was good the Lord was strong
And Daniel lived his life for Him

The stories of Noah, Moses, David and Daniel all have common themes and messages… God deals with individuals, protecting them. caring for them, acting in unexpected and miraculous ways, providing for them when they were alone… God is good, strong, faithful, and totally dependable.
Jesus died to take away our sin
So we could get to know our God again
The Lord is good the Lord is strong
And we will live our lives for Him
This is a personal song. It’s not just about interesting but ancient stories with lessons to learn and examples to follow. It’s about a consistent God who deals with me in the same good, strong and faithful way as he dealt with these ancient men of faith.
I’m invited to two responses – that may be child-like but certainly aren’t childish: ‘Thank You, O thank You’ and ‘I will live my life for Him’.
Oh thank You oh thank You
That all through history
You were faithful
Thank You oh thank You
That You are just the same
When it comes to me…

First time hearing this song, and it got me nodding my head to the beat. 🎼🎶🎵 Back in the day, my favorite song about faith was Obedience. Ah, I can’t forget our Bible teacher, Mrs. Ormeo, for teaching us that song. Thank you for sharing, Sir.

Thanks, Adel. We remember songs we learnt in our childhood – and can’t underestimate the influence they have on us.
