We visited ‘Fakenham Fairways’. Their website reads: ‘A little bit of fresh Norfolk air can do us all good.’ Yesterday’s fresh Norfolk air was cold and wet.
‘…Have a round of golf. Our 9 hole pitch and putt course is great fun for all the family.’ How do we define ‘fun’?
Musing… life’s a round of golf… holes to be completed successfully… knowing which hole you’re aiming for… having the skill and precision to hit a tiny ball in the right direction… getting it into the hole.

Yesterday Daughter-Jo got a call from 18-year-old Granddaughter-Hannah: ‘Can we please have a kitten? – It’s really cute, and it’s free…’
The hole Hannah was aiming at was clear – obtaining a kitten. Jo instantly constructed a barrier that cost-free cuteness couldn’t penetrate. Hannah had neither the strength nor skill to hit her golf ball anywhere near her desired hole.

Jeremiah speaks about their religious and political leaders: ‘They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. ‘Peace, peace,’ they say where there is no peace.’ (8:11) It could have been written today!
‘Like a scarecrow in a melon patch their idols cannot speak.’ (9:5) They’re about as useless as playing golf… not knowing where the hole is… frequently missing the ball… no skill, no precision, random direction…

Nephew-Benjamin worked with rural communities in The Ivory Coast helping with water supply, farming, medical work, education, local business development, building a Christian church in a largely Muslim community.
Many of the holes he’s aimed at have been completed… gaining direction, and skill from his Christian faith.
Last year Benjamin returned to his native France with his family… He writes: ‘After much thoughts, discussion and prayers, we have made the decision to stay in France… I am about to take a position as a pastor in Paris…’
He’s trusting his God to show him where the next hole is, praying that he will have the wisdom, guidance and strength to complete it successfully…
