Everything seems to be ‘last’ this morning…
Last Part: Several people have asked about our new kitchen recently. Kevin the plumber has been round this morning, fitting the radiator in our utility room. – the last part in our lovely new kitchen….
It’s now finally complete!

Last Round: Building work at our Seagull Theatre is going well. We’re hoping to develop our building, activities and shows further. We have applied for additional funding. We’ve heard this morning that were ‘in the last round’ in one of our applications.
We’re hopeful.

Last Piece: Rachel enjoys doing jigsaws. Her current puzzle is out in the conservatory It’s a map of the sights of London. I guess she’ll put in the last piece later today…
She’ll be pleased to have it finished!

Last Minute: John from Men’s Shed is flying from Norwich with his wife on a holiday to Crete. He’s been looking for some time for a good last minute deal,.
It’s a really good price.

Last Chance: Will is taking his family to Spain on holiday over half term. I got a phone call this morning. ‘Could you sign my son’s passport please? It’s our last chance!’
It’s got to be done today!

Last Time: The old Rolling Stones song has been going round in my head all week. At inappropriate times I’ve been singing:
Well I told you once and I told you twice
But ya never listen to my advice
You don’t try very hard to please me
With what you know it should be easy
Well this could be the last time
This could be the last time
Maybe the last time I don’t know
Oh no

There’s something satisfying and reassuring about ‘lastness’. Events have taken their course, the natural order is nearly complete. The end is in sight.

And then Jesus says: ‘The last will be first and the first last.’ He throws everything in the air. The accepted order is challenged… and I’m left musing!
