Progress on our kitchen has been slow but steady; it’s not finished but it’s useable.
I’ve just gone through a snagging list with Scott-the-fitter… jobs that still need doing… the cracked cutlery tray and panels that need replacing, the painting and decorating, the collection of the rubbish…
My memory isn’t what it was. Lists are more and more important. Rachel’s always been good at lists – shopping lists, Christmas card lists, things-to-do-this-week lists. I get increasingly frustrated with my forgettery; I need memory enhancing lists to try to enable days to go more smoothly…
We could have a drought in the South and East of England – we’ve had a relatively dry winter and spring, and July has been the driest since 1976.
Listening to the news yesterday it seems…
…the water authorities are making lists – conserving water, limiting non-essential domestic and commercial use, considering a hosepipe ban…
…the famers are making lists – needing to water at critical times, harvesting early, making provision for a lower yield, considering raising prices…
…tourist boards are making lists – enhancing facilities, making additional provision, extending the season.
Church young people and their leaders are going away for a few days this morning. Jen has made lists for the programme, activities taking place, the equipment required…Mel has drawn up a menu and made lists of food and catering requirements…
Individuals and families will have made lists of things they need to take and do… clothes, swimwear, sun cream, toothbrush, sweets, pet-care provision, …
And listening to the two couples who are getting married in the next few weeks… they have lists… arrangements, guests, presents, clothes… coming out of their ears!
Musing… God’s lists…
…Isaiah’s ‘Can a mother forget the baby at her breast…? Though she may forget I will not forget you! See I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.’ (49:15-16)…
…John’s ‘Nothing impure will ever enter (heaven)… but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.’ (Revelation 21:27)
I’m glad and grateful God has me on his “good” list. Your kitchen colors are those I favor too (though I don’t have them in my current kitchen)–very lovely.
