New World in the Morning

Yesterday we learnt of Roger Whittaker’s death. His songs were beautiful, gentle, warm… His ‘New world in the morning’ reminded me of five of yesterday’s conversations…

Jack’s computer had stopped performing; his health isn’t good; he’s recently fallen; he’s frustrated with his work; one or two people had recently let him down… he was doing his best but…

Jack needs the courage and hope to believe – there’s a new world in the morning. Today may be rubbish; tomorrow’s a fresh day…

Before his seventieth birthday Keith was a little apprehensive – being seventy is old! He’s getting used to it. He’s not quite as nimble or quick as he used to be, but he’s grateful for his health and family.

Keith’s looking forward to his future – but enjoying his today: Well, I, myself don’t talk about a new world in the morning. A new world in the morning, that’s today.

Andy’s worried about his wife Debbie. She’s had some mental health issues. She doesn’t get out much. He’s received advice; he’s encouraged Debbie to get help; it’s been going on for some years.

People have said that things will get better. Andy’s experience? Everybody talks about a new world in the morning. New world in the morning takes too long.

Grandson-Luca is ten. He’s really enjoying his last year of primary school…

I met a man who had a dream he had since he was twenty
I met that man when he was eighty-one…

My hope and prayer for Luca is that he will have dreams for his tomorrows, but will enjoy and make the most of today.

…Conversation with myself… my ‘new world in the morning’… as a child I learnt: ‘Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’

I’m with Roger Whittaker: ‘And he would feel a new tomorrow coming on, And when he’d smile his eyes would twinkle up in thought…’

  1. Having first coffee. The morning will be even better in a couple of hours when it’s light enough to walk outside! Praise God from whom all blessings flow! (22 years of fibromyalgia, but not giving up) Aging gratefully. (I’ll be 80 in June.)

    1. I know fibromyalgia isn’t good – several friends have it. I had polymyalgia a few years back which came and went but wasn’t pleasant but gave me some empathy….
I continue to be grateful for each new day in the morning.
